The more you can get people to gossip about your book the higher your sales will be when they finally go on sale. Try offering ways to personalize the book by offering a raffle at various events to have a personal profile in the yearbook. People love to be part of something exclusive and this will give them a reason to attend fund raising events. Try offering a limited amount of profiles like 5-10 depending on how big you want them to be. Students will love to be showcased in your yearbook. Not all will love the idea but many will strive to be in one of those parking spaces for every to see.

You can still put out a great book that your students will enjoy and cut costs all around you to make it happen. If your budget has really shrunk try changing from a hardcover book to a soft. This move alone can help you save a great deal of money to spend in other directions. If your yearbook was originally going to be 80 pages long trying condensing the information into 50 pages. By taking a look at content and photos and tightening up the pages you might be able to squeeze everything down and save a great deal of money on the actual printing of your yearbook. Try recruiting student photographers if at all possible along with design savvy students to help with the framing and layout of the yearbook. Also keep in mind that fundraisers should be at an all time high right now. Get creative and think of as many ways as possible to raise money for your funding needs.

There are many clever ways to take your organizations mascot and pull them into the branding of your yearbook. This is why it is important to put together a clear outline of deadlines for yourself on when you want to accomplish certain tasks. Give yourself slightly earlier deadlines so that you can make any changes that might be needed when that time comes around.

By trying to target a certain amount of photos and sections you would like to have included in your yearbook will be important so that you make a top notch product. Set a goal for yourself also for how much money you would like to raise for you year book. Put together a plan of which fundraisers you will perform in order to achieve the funds you need to make your book. This will help you gauge in advance how much money you can generate for your year book. When you outline things and set goals you have something to reach for. This important not just year books but in life as well.

With current economic conditions it will be important to become extremely visible in your local community and show them the value of their ad. many local businesses will be willing to purchase ad space as they might have for years. Many smaller local businesses are not sure how to spend their marketing dollars but with a little encouragement on the value of that many eye balls seeing their advertisements. Not Enough in the Budget?

When you first started planning out your year book back in the beginning of the school year things where a little different now you find yourself needed to make some changes in the either the budget or the book, which is it going to be?

Now approaching into the new year many schools are going through budget so it will be important to improvise. Now is the time to explore different corrections that can be made to the book so that you come in under budget or have enough to actually complete the books. If it is not too late you can change the binding or go from a color yearbook over to a black and white. If it comes down to not making it in time or the book not becoming a reality students will not fault you. They watch television, they see the news, they will understand. Now is also the time to start holding fundraisers. Anything and everything to create some extra money for the your committee. Bake sales are great for raising extra cash along with selling things like lollipops and candy bars. Even getting really creative by proposing a talent show. battle of the bands type of event at your school where the students can play and charge a very small fee. Now is the time to think outside of the box in order to get your book done and published.

Start Promoting Early

With the economy in a downward spiral it is important to start your yearbook promotions early during the school year. Raising awareness and letting students prepare and plan will be very important going into the 2009 year. Either yourself or your committee will have to start planning a marketing campaign as soon as possible.

Many parents and students are budgeting more than ever so if they can start to budget in the cost of their year book ahead of schedule you are likely to keep your sales in very close proximity to prior years. Promotion of year books can happen very frequently. Launching online campaign through official school Facebook group accounts and collecting email addresses is one way. Getting students to pay early will not be easy but it is important to not wait until the very last minute so that you do not see a drop in sales. Speak with your superiors about posting up flyers in hallways and having announcements made to students.
