Yearbook Photography: Student Submitted Photos
July 1st, 2008
Most schools have students assigned to the area of yearbook photography, but don´t overlook the possibility of using student submitted photos, as well. These are pictures taken by students not involved with the yearbook, often around the school or at sporting events related to the school.
It isn´t always possible to get the photos needed for the yearbook photography sections. In this case, appealing to the general student body can be a big help. They may have photos that are worthy of including in the section for this event and often these will be of pretty good quality, depending on the type of camera used.
Students who aren´t professionals will often take some excellent photos of sports events and other school projects and events. Even if your yearbook photographers takes shots of the event, it can often be a good idea to consider incorporating a few student photos as well into the yearbook. You can even hold a special contest for student yearbook photography.
Yearbook photography doesn´t always have to be done by yearbook students and sometimes you can benefit from allowing outsiders to submit their pictures as well. It´s definitely worth thinking about, especially if you end up with only blurred photos of the biggest soccer event of the year!
